When I got back from Fiji, I had planned on writing a bit of a summary, but as you probably have noticed, the world got a bit weird.
I plan on writing a final summary of the trip shortly, but for the moment, here are my FaceBook posts. Some of you follow me on Feces Book. If you do, then don't bother reading the rest, as you should have already seen these. If you don't follow me, the following posts might be a bit out of order, but they are what I sent out there.
What the heck IS that. I think it's called a "get the heck out of the water NOW". Looks like a Portuguese man-of-war, which you really don't want to run into under the water. This was floating past my floating villa.
And just to be clear, this is not actually a jellyfish, it's a colony of four different animals. Those tentacles can sting even after separated from the rest of the colony. Even if they wash up on shore. A sting from them will leave a painful welt, but can also get into the lymph nodes and cause a reaction similar to an allergic reaction. Closed up throat, cardiac arrest, you name it. like I said, you do not want to run into one of these things when you're in the water...... or on the beach
Well, another first for this trip. We were on a dive, looking out into the deep blue hoping to see a hammerhead shark, and I saw a large cinder block sinking through the ocean. Apparently the boat captain had put it on the seat and a big wave came along and knocked it off into the ocean. It's now probably at about 900 ft, I think it can stay there to become part of the reef.
The Southern Cross, the first time I have seen it clearly.
Seen while on an herbal walk.
A few pics from one of the resorts.
It's a good day. This massage bed just magically appeared in my room.
Not me, but some people here like fishing.
This question was asked of me: Just curious how many dives in Fiji?
I had 88 Dives total while I was in Fiji.
Saying goodbye to the folks at Oneta Resort, and Fiji.
Something you don't see every day... Towing a snorkeler to the dock. As we were getting to Pacific Harbor a snorkeler called for help. He was tired from fighting the current and could not make it back upstream. No ladder, so no easy way to get him aboard. We threw out a rope and pulled him the fairly short distance to the dock.
These were pics from the boat ride back from my last dive resort.
Looks like those 2 middle toes are broken. 4 hours before I leave the hotel for the flight. Perfect timing. I tripped on a raised platform where the lounge chairs were. I blame the bifocals. That or I am getting clumsy in my old age.
EDIT.. I removed the ugly picture and replaced it with one that's not quite so,,,, Ugly
Still a picture of a foot, but you can look past that at the sunset.
Now the simulation is just messing with me. Saw this in the store after I got home while looking for ice cream. Fijian Ginger. I have never noticed that in a store before. Now I see it immediately after getting home from Fiji.
